I think it's safe to say, the 90 Challenge to raise money for Student Linkup went a tad bigger and more mental than we first expected.
Does the fact that sixteen people dressed in animal onesies for a week suggest that the cause is important enough to do something uncomfortable for? Has the need to support young people as they leave home for uni become one that others outside the Fusion team cannot ignore?
I think so.
And how about the twenty individuals from a church in York, all doing three hours of dares in fancy dress on a freezing day in the city centre? Can we write-off their sacrifice as "just a laugh", or did they take the 90 team challenge because they believe that Freshers should be able to connect to churches when they leave home?
People pin their colours to the mast through their actions. People do what they want to do. If studentlinkup hadn't affected so many current student's lives, I don't think we would have seen so many decide to give back and support the next wave of students coming through.
Check out this short 90 challenge highlights film and hear the interviews from the participants themselves. The difference being prepared for uni culture and connected to local churches makes is tangible, because the students who did the 90 challenge this year are the living, breathing result of studentlinkup.
