The Art of Celebration

Why celebrate?
Why not? Is more the question…

As children of God, twice His - created by God and then bought back by Him - we have more to celebrate than anyone.

The God we get to know and worship is all about extravagant parties for all the right reasons. Where there is life, freedom and people coming back to Him, there is always a party, a feast, a celebration.

...the father said to his servants, “Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate. For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.” So they began to celebrate.’ [Luke 15]

This celebration thing isn’t always the reputation we get for ourselves as Christians. But throughout the Bible God tells his followers to remember what he’s done; his miracles, the ways he’s come through and shown his faithfulness and the adventures they’ve been on together.

He says this is because if we don’t remember… then we’ll forget. We forget God’s faithfulness, we forget his power, we forget that he does come through for us and all the ways we’ve seen that in the past.

“They did not remember his power— the day he redeemed them from the oppressor, the day he displayed his signs in Egypt, his wonders in the region of Zoan." [Psalm‬ ‭78]‬‬

“Remember that you were slaves in Egypt and the LORD your God redeemed you from there. That is why I command you to do this.” [Deuteronomy‬ ‭24]‬

“Sing to him, sing praise to him; tell of all his wonderful acts. Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice. Look to the LORD and his strength; seek his face always. Remember the wonders he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he pronounced,” [1 Chronicles‬ ‭16]‬‬

This is why we’ve created the Student Mission awards

These Awards are all about celebrating. We want to celebrate what God has been doing on your campus, with your mates and through all the smallest and craziest ideas you’ve tried to share the love and truth of Jesus with those around you.

We think God celebrates as we join in his mission with Him, and we know he celebrates as his children come home. He has told us to remember what He’s done, and we know that builds our faith and helps us hope for more in the future. So this is your chance to share your stories big and small so we can join in heavens party and celebrate with you.

Let's be the best at celebrating because we have the most to celebrate.

Will you help us with this?
