Jesus is at the Door...

In the last few weeks, Jodie & the students at Vineyard Bath have been out on campus, sharing the gospel and praying with countless people. They’ve seen a number of them say yes to following Jesus, some have come to small groups and even tried out church!

Here's their story...

Since becoming a Christian a few years ago at university, I have been incredibly passionate about sharing my story of how that happened and ultimately, telling people about the amazing impact Jesus has had on my life.

So naturally, a big part of my time on the Vineyard Bath student team is spent encouraging and equipping our students to be missionally focused and going out and being the hands and feet of Jesus. We’ve done night club outreach, held student Alpha courses, thrown parties for our friends and constantly go big on being a community of people inviting friends into relationship with Jesus and each other.

But it’s often been difficult to get to the ‘do you want to turn and follow Jesus?’ part of the relationship.

A couple of weeks ago, a group of us went to a conference where a guy called Scott McNamara spoke about mission and shared his super simple (and effective) evangelistic tool, Jesus At The Door. He said that 96% of believers had never seen someone come to faith, which really stirred something in me. Then we got to go out on to the streets to try this tool out - we were pretty apprehensive about whether it would work but were trusting God to move.

Turns out God is in the business of saving people and a number of us saw people give their lives to Jesus on the streets that afternoon!

Seeing first-hand and hearing stories of this kind of thing actually working and people saying ‘yes’ has set our students on fire. When we came back to Bath, a group of us started meeting up each week to take ‘Jesus At The Door’ out on to Bath uni campus and into our City to share Jesus with those that we meet.

In only a couple of weeks, we’ve grown in confidence and learnt to trust in the Holy Spirit like never before. Amazingly, we have shared the gospel and prayed with countless people as well as seeing a number of those say yes to turning to follow Jesus, come into small group settings and try out church!

God is seriously on the move and it’s been amazing to simply follow His call and be ready to catch the people who He is meeting with.
