Student Workers: Better Together

“Having been a student worker for 7 years and in student mission for 10 years now, opportunities to connect with others with the same calling has been vital to keeping me going, to keeping up hope and sometimes to just knowing what to do! It can feel lonely cracking on in student mission, but having others who really get it makes all the difference.’ - Christa Lyth, Student Worker at Glasgow Vineyard for 7 years and now Director of Fusion Scotland.

We are not isolated, we are part of a bigger team, called by God to serve the students of our nations. We are pioneers, we are investors, we are developers and strengtheners. We are pastors, prophets, apostles, teachers, evangelists, and yes, even administrators. God has placed us where we are and we are seeking to fulfil his purposes, sometimes working in confidence, sometimes in what feels like blind faith, always in hope for what God is doing and what he will do.

Student Worker Huddles are an opportunity to journey that calling alongside others who get it, who are also working out what this looks like in their context. The simple idea is to connect regularly to share where you are, to encourage and challenge one another and to back each other in prayer. Each Huddle will be made up of 4-6 Student Workers.

Different people will want different levels of engagement so there are three types of Huddle we are offering:

Connect Huddle

Connects once or twice a term to catch up, share what’s going on in their student work, share encouragement and insight, and pray for one another. These will be a peer group without further leading/content from Fusion, though this is available if that would be appreciated.

LED Huddle

Connects two or three times a term to share how things are going and also includes sharing something, in particular, you’re hoping to see happen before you next meet. These things are then addressed at the next get together to help support each other and hold one another accountable. These are supported by a Fusion team member.

Mentored Huddle

Connects termly to discuss their student work but led by an experienced Huddle mentor who will bring content, questions, and challenge to the gathering to help guide your time together. You can also meet again in a term without the Huddle contributor if you would like to.

If you have any questions please do get in touch with Lauren at for a chat.
