"I don't feel lost anymore..."

Megan’s experience of church was limited to her R.E lessons in school and finding faith during her time at university wasn’t part of her plan, but when she noticed the impact that faith had on 2 of her coursemates, she decided she wanted to find out more.

Before trying church, Megan often found herself worrying about things that were out of her control, consumed and defined by her life as a student. Feeling lost, out of place and facing uncertainty, Megan found herself trying church online for the first time.

“The ease of being able to watch a livestream was so helpful for me! The services being online meant that I could get involved in church without having to make a conscious decision to go to a building. At one point, I was talking to my friend who was going to the same church and he didn’t even know I’d been watching online! I’d watch the devotionals on Instagram, watch Sunday services and view what was going on for students on the students page. For me, it was helpful having so much out there to investigate for yourself and it helped me to be sure that faith was something I wanted to pursue.”

“I watched the livestream for 3 weeks and when I came back to uni, I just wanted to talk about it! I started reading bits of scripture, and certain parts made sense for how I felt at the time. I felt like my whole life was about uni, but reading the Bible taught me that my identity wasn’t in this. I then joined a student community!”

“I don’t feel lost anymore..."

“I’d been praying and was getting a lot of comfort from Jesus in my mood and how I felt generally. There were things that had been worrying me for a long time had just been answered, even if I hadn’t prayed for them a lot. I knew that what I felt was God and that He was answering my prayers!”

“Since giving my life to Jesus, everything has shifted into focus and makes more sense. I now feel content in not knowing all the answers to my questions, and at peace knowing that God takes the complexity of life from you. He’s the one making the plans and putting things into place, we just get to go along with it.”

“I don’t feel lost anymore. Even if I feel misplaced, I know that God knows my place and purpose. He has a plan for everyone and a plan for me! I’m realising that as people, we rarely think of ourselves as significant, but to God, that is what we are - significant. Having that awareness takes so much pressure off and now I can take each moment and feel grateful.”

“We started having conversations about baptisms, and honestly, it felt scary but felt right. I was ready to make this declaration and carry on growing in my faith. It was scary but it felt, and now I’m not scared, I’m just excited for it to happen!”

Megan was baptised 2 weeks and ended with this.

“I didn’t have anyone to share Jesus with me, until I came to uni. I saw the impact that faith had on my friends, and I thought that if it works for them, it could work for me. Back then, I didn’t realise that everything would change just because they were open about their faith.”
