"God was drawing her back..."

In September we hosted the Fusion Conference which gave a space for students to share stories of what God has done in and through them in the last 18 months. Over the coming weeks, we will be sharing some of these stories on the blog, so grab a cup of tea and be encouraged.

Lara, a student in Cardiff, had one friend in school who was a Christian. Throughout her first year of university, she tried to encourage her friend to find a church with her, but much like many students starting university, her friend did not find a church. Despite this, when Lara found a church at her university in Cardiff, she couldn't help but share about the Sunday services online.

Every Sunday, Lara would invite her Instagram followers to try church with her through her Instagram stories. Feeling discouraged with the seeming lack of interest, she was surprised when one morning she noticed a familiar face walk into a Sunday service...

“A friend from my home church years before had walked away from faith, and when she started uni, she hadn’t thought about church at all. But she had seen me post about church on social media over and over again, so showed up!"

From simple, consistent invitations to church via social media, Lara's friend felt prompted to try church again at university. Lara shares that she recognised her need for community and conviction about being a part of a church at university.

"She told me that she needed community and wondered if God was drawing her back, and it’s been so cool to see her re-explore the faith that she had all those years ago.”

A challenge for you. Who are you inviting to try church, and do you believe that God can move through your invitation? Whether it's 1 invitation face-to-face, or 50 invitations through an Instagram story, God can use your yes to lead your friends into encounter with Him.
