"I felt God tell me to ask him if he wanted to give his life to Jesus..."

“God’s just bringing people to the church and we just need to be ready when they come.”

When Joe, a Student Worker in York, turned up to church on Sunday, he had no idea that he would be leading someone to faith that week. Joe shares the story of a student who recently gave his life to Jesus.

“There was one student who hadn’t been to church since he was 7 years old. He woke up on a Saturday morning and felt like God clearly spoke to him and told him to go along to church.”

Despite not knowing any other Christian students, this student acted quickly and the next day, he made his way to a Sunday service.

“When I met him for coffee, I felt God tell me to ask him if he wanted to give his life to Jesus…”

“He came along to our Sunday service and then the following night, was at our student night. I decided to share a bit of my testimony, and then the following day, he met me for a coffee.”

Joe adds, “recently, on student nights, we’ve been talking a lot about boldness. When I met him for coffee, I felt God tell me to ask him if he wanted to give his life to Jesus. I told him he could do it right here in the coffee shop… and he did!”

“The following Sunday he chose to get baptised at church! Within a week, he went from not being in church to giving his life to Jesus, and then being baptised!”

God’s call and Joe’s boldness to invite him to give his life to Jesus resulted in a student’s life being changed forever.

Joe reflects, “the most encouraging thing is that God is already calling His children back to Him. As the church, we just need to be ready when they come!”
