25 Years of Fusion Movement!

It is difficult to comprehend how quickly 25 years has flown by. So much has happened and yet so much remains unrealised. Like many student movements of previous generations and eras the early years don’t give much away for what will follow. These years have had wonderful moments, lives impacted by the love of Jesus and eternal identity bestowed on many students. Calling kindled into flame and futures reimagined around a Kingdom cause. Workers raised up and sent into every sphere of society and many nations. We pause to celebrate and give thanks for all that God has done through Fusion.

However, it is only a pause. Whilst we could spend our time organising a party, we spent our time organising a festival instead. Sixty One happened at the start of August and was a wonderful time of encounter and calling for hundreds of students. Now we feel the urgency of the hour again, the cry of each generation of students and so alongside celebrating we are surrendering. We are always seeking God for fresh vision. We are also surveying thousands of students about the way they perceive the world and what is like to be them.

Alongside the wonderful stories of students finding Christ we have witnessed decay and decline and have battled a culture going fast in the opposite direction no longer rooted in biblical values. The noise and distraction from media has upended a generation who are being tossed about like a rubber dingy in a vast and volatile ocean. They need more than a life raft, they need a solid rock to land on, to stand on and make sense of the turbulence around them. They need teaching on which they can build their lives so when the storms of life come they can stand firm.

So as we celebrate 25 years of Fusion Movement we also humble ourselves and echo the 2,500 year old prayer of Habakkuk the prophet

Lord, I have heard of your fame;
    I stand in awe of your deeds, Lord.
Repeat them in our day,
    in our time make them known;
    in wrath remember mercy.

We are ready to keep going for as long as we sense God's mandate and leading. At present, with around 1% of students connected to Christian community, we will give God's mission among students our all. We are ready to do whatever Jesus asks of us and invite you to join in through your prayers, generous giving and encouragement.
