There must be something more to life in Bath

At Fusion we love to gather and share stories of how God is moving across university cities and give examples of some of the creative mission ideas churches are pioneering to reach students.

Libby, a student worker, shares her story of asking students questions about church and faith at Bath freshers fair.

“It can often take a lot of boldness to step out in these scenarios and strike up a conversation with students who often don’t want to stop and talk about faith at all. But Libby and her team knew they had to listen to God and step out to have conversations with students who may not ever step foot in a church without an invitation.

As the day progressed one student approached Libby and the team on his own accord without any prompting and began to quickly explain that the past year has been the worst year of his life. He continued, concluding that the only reason he managed to get through the year was that there must be something more to life that is bigger than him and that’s why he approached the Try Church stall, wanting to know more.

Another student, more reserved, came up to their stall and a conversation began around church. She was invited to church and since then, has been attending church regularly, taking part in student lunches and getting stuck into community all whilst learning who God is. An invitation that seems so small can lead to a really big invitation to know Jesus".

These are just some of the stories emerging from fresher fairs and students stepping out in boldness to start conversations about church and faith with other students. We are so excited to hear more stories of students beginning their faith journey through a simple conversation and invitation to church.
