Week 4 - Try Church

As we exhibit at Fresher Fairs across the country we are hearing lots of stories of students being open to trying church as part of their university experience.

At one of the Freshers Fairs last week, one of our team members spoke to a student who like many students was looking quite overwhelmed in the sea of stands, freebies, and opportunities. He asked if she was okay and wanted to chat more. She ended up staying chatting with the students serving on the Try Church stand for a while even though she wasn’t interested in completing the worldview survey or trying church herself at that moment.

There must have been something that stood out about that conversation as later that day, the same student returned to the Try Church stand. She went on to say that she’d gone back to her halls of residence and decided that she would actually quite like to try to connect with a church to find community at university. She explained that she had previously gone to church as a child but stopped attending as a teenager as she didn’t think it was for her. She had a desire to connect and engage with like-minded people and she thought church could be a good place to do that. The team on the stand were able to tell her about the Student Linkup App and help her connect with a church in her city. They invited her to a student night they were running that week, and met with her beforehand to make it easy for her to engage and make friends.

Every week of the academic year, we are sharing a story of student mission. If you have a story to share, let us know
