Sachin is a first-year student in York who stepped out to share Jesus with his friends and flatmates through sharing food and caring for them. Here he shares his experience in his own words.
“Hi! My name’s Sachin, and I’m a first-year student at the University of York. Over the past months, I’ve formed beautiful and meaningful friendships with my flatmates (plus one honorary adoptee!). We’ve shared so many incredible experiences together, from park runs to unforgettable nights out. Naturally, as we’ve spent more time together, we’ve really bonded and learned so much about each other.
Early on, they got to know how important my faith is to me. I’ve found that the best way to share Jesus with them isn’t just by talking about Him, but by trying to reflect His love in how I live. I don’t try to package it as anything other than genuine care—I simply aim to let the love of Jesus flow naturally through my actions.
One Sunday morning, I felt inspired to invite everyone to share dinner and play some board games. As we sat around the table, I shared why I wanted to do this: because Jesus really does care about each of them deeply, just like I care for them as friends. The goal was for it to be a simple but meaningful way to express my faith and show them how loved they truly are.”
Sachin went on to bring his housemates to try church a few Sundays later and continues to invite them to explore faith through meaningful conversation.
