Christ Church, Bath
A bit more...
Bath has many churches, Christ Church has a unique place amongst them. No single church’s worship and community can fully encompass every aspect of God’s nature and Christ’s ministry, and there are certain aspects that we are called to emphasise.
Welcome and hospitality
'I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me.' (Matthew 25:35)
We wish to offer the welcome of Christ to all who come to our door.
An expression of beauty
'Give to the Lord the glory due to his name; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.' (Psalm 29:2)
The beauty of art, music and words can open us to the grace and beauty of God. At our services we use the formal structure of the Anglican liturgy, supported by our robed choir who lead a combination of traditional and modern music - including our own compositions - to worship together.
Exploration and debate
'Were not our hearts burning within us while he was talking to us on the road, while he was opening the scriptures to us?' (Luke 24:32
We believe that it is a Godly activity to explore our faith and wrestle with Scripture with honesty and integrity. We aim to provide safe space where people can engage in respectful debate as part of our walk with God. We believe that, in this life, doubt is be necessary for faith to grow.
What do we do for students?
Come to our 'New Start' service on Sunday 10th fro those starting th new academic year. Afterwards we have 'Apple Day' with a light lunch in aid of the Genesis charity for the homeless.
We welcome students to all our services, our discussion group and to our SATB choir. No audition, but plenty of enthusiasm necessary. Choir practice is 7.30 on Friday night.
We are also one of the few churches in Bath to have church bells. If you are a ringer or would like to learn, ringing practice is at 9.30 on Saturdays.
