A bit more...

At York Community Church, we are passionate about living out the message and mission of Jesus and of the Bible. We love to bring hope and transformation to those in need around us on the east side of the city, where we have been witnessing since November 1993. We are a real mixed bag of believers, varying in age, social backgrounds and Christian experience. Yet in the midst of our diversity we are united by our love for one another and in our vision:

Together, to know God and make Him known.

As we move forward to fulfil this vision, we remain committed to our values of: faith, love, unity, trust & enjoyment; and also to our mission purpose of ‘making disciple making disciples.’ We have been using the Cornerstone building for many years as a hub of reaching out into our local community as well as for worship and prayer events, and we're so happy to now own the building so we can further extend our ministry.

What do we do for students?

We really value students as part of our YCC family, and many alumni from the University of York and York St John have chosen to remain in our church when they graduated, enriching the life of the church and becoming involved in leadership. YCC offers you a welcoming, loving community who will support you through your time at university. We are fervent about encouraging, serving and discipling you and giving you opportunities to grow in your gifts! As you get stuck into life at YCC, you are invited to take advantage of the following:

Student Lunch - a free lunch is available every Sunday during term time, as we can arrange for you to share a meal with a household from the church.

Mentoring - we offer you the chance to be mentored by members of our congregation, who will be available to meet, chat and pray through anything you might be struggling with or have questions about. As part of this, you are invited to join one of our many evening home groups during the week.

Opportunities to serve - you will be encouraged to become active members of our community and serve in various activities including: our vibrant worship ministry, children's work, youth work and short-term missions.
