Emmanuel Church Durham

A growing, charismatic, family church, with a world vision. We seek to encourage encounters with Jesus that lead to transformed lives.

A bit more...

We are a church that love God, and our heart is to see him made known.

As a growing church, we desire to grow both in numbers as people are won for Jesus as well as in depth of maturity as people are discipled. As a charismatic church, we seek to encourage, and build up the church family by being open to the gifts that he has given each of us, empowered by the Holy Spirit at work. As a family church, we are an open and diverse community with people of all ages sharing and ministering to one another. As a church with a world mission, we seek to love the lost not just in Durham City, but the surrounding county, and beyond. We are part of the Regions Beyond family of churches within Newfrontiers.

Our student work is very much a part of the DNA of our church, and we love to see them empowered to serve God during their time at university, and beyond.

What do we do for students?

We want to see students and 20s living full out for Jesus compelled by his amazing grace. We have a student & 20s team who want to invest in and learn from students and will do all they can to see them grow into all that God is calling them to be.

Students are welcome and encouraged to be involved in every aspect of church life, both in serving the church and in mission to the community. Students can either join our wider church small groups and Emmanuel Communities or become part of a more focused University Emmanuel Community.

In particular for students, we have a weekly Sunday evening gathering, called The Hub, which is relevant, informal and interactive. Every February, The Hub holds a weekend away. In addition, there are weekly student prayer gatherings, mission weeks and socials.
