Run Alpha for Students

Having come to faith when I was a student, I know the value of evangelistic mission to students and the power of the invitation to #TryChurch.

Any church that's committed to working with students is looking to achieve two key goals. Firstly to make their church is friendly and welcoming to students, and effective at investing in them so that students leave University deeper in faith and stronger as leaders. Secondly, to offer effective, contextual and relevant evangelism to the majority of students who don't know Jesus (yet).

Alpha will help you do both.

Of course, if you are already running Alpha then you can invite students along. Perhaps make a small-group just for the University and maybe invite some of the students in church to help as part of the team. This is a great result, and many many students have found faith in Jesus through this.

But you could go one step further – and also fulfil both of your key goals – by training students to run Alpha for their friends. With new videos and online resources, it's never been easier to run Alpha, especially if you are just running it for a few friends. Some pizza, a laptop and downloaded resources and you're good to go. Christian students, when given the support, training and challenge, are likely to be the most effective evangelists to their non-Christian friends.

So why not review how you run Alpha? Train up your students to lead mission to their student friends by using Alpha. Alpha is a series of sessions exploring the Christian faith. Each talk looks at a different question around faith and is designed to create conversation.
