How will you prepare?

Imagine you’re going hiking. What do you need?

A tool belt? Boots? Snacks? A map?

Preparation is one of the most important parts of undertaking something BIG.

Without preparation, we go into the wilderness completely ill-equipped; a bit like wearing converse whilst trying to hike up a mountain.

Heading to university can sometimes feel like looking at that mountain before climbing it - half excitement, half extreme nerves!

“For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared.”

Ephesians 6 v 15

Jesus told his followers to be ready to go and make disciples and trust that he was always with them (Matthew 28 v 20). We are told to do the same! As you head off to university, the best thing you can do to make the experience your own is to be sure of who you are, and to know the answer to ‘who am I going to be?’

The Student Linkup sessions are a great way to start asking those questions about all that university brings; the culture, the opportunities and the legacy. It’s about figuring out what you stand for as you head into living fully independent for the first time.

The questions can be overwhelming at first: how many clubs and societies do you join? Which church do you choose? How can you talk to your housemates about Jesus? Trusting God and preparing yourself in advance means you’ll head to Uni with all of the right equipment to put God first. University is a battleground, and God is calling you to play your part.

We believe that God is calling a generation of students to know they are disciples of Christ and to Loveyouruni. He is calling them to be prepared to share their faith, stand firm and to change the atmosphere.

So how will you prepare?
