Student Linkup: Wanna make that a double?

Everything is about to double up. This academic year has been so strange for so many students. Many feel robbed on their freshers' year. They haven't had a chance to get out, socialise and meet people. They haven't even been at uni physically for much of the year. They are going to be making up for it this autumn and joining the new freshers for what will be double freshers!

As the church, we need to respond to this. Can we be twice as available and twice as welcoming? Are we able to prepare twice the amount of young people for university this summer and redouble our prayers for them?

This has been such a time of uncertainty for the student generation. We can offer them true hope and purpose in the person of Jesus Christ and we can help them to settle into their university and find a church to call home. Twice as many freshers but the same spiritual and human needs as ever. It's time for the church to play its part in welcoming students home.

Before too long, parents will be packing up cars full of duvets, suitcases, kettles, and frying pans. Their kids will have all the gear and no idea. Let's change that and make sure they are prepared and ready for uni.

What you can do to respond...

  1. Buy a Student Linkup Box for anyone you know who is going to uni this autumn.
  2. Make sure they get the Student Linkup App and find a church at uni.
  3. Message students who are coming to study near you on Student Linkup. Organise a zoom chat where they can meet other students. Invite them for a coffee when they arrive. Be a familiar face when they arrive on campus.

Will you join me in praying Isaiah 61 over this generation of students?

"Instead of shame and dishonour, you will enjoy a double share of honour. You will possess a double portion of prosperity in your land, and everlasting joy will be yours." Isaiah 61:7
