One of the great privileges of my job is hearing lots of stories about students giving their lives to Jesus. I never get bored of them. Each one is unique and personal; I join with a Heavenly party every time. I love to imagine the impact that student will have throughout the rest of their life. All the decisions that will be made, friendships that will be formed, jobs which will be worked, children that will be born and so much more. All of these things will happen with Jesus at the centre, all because the student decided to follow Christ on that particular day.
I'm launching the Legacy Podcast because I want to tell some of those long stories. I've interviewed a wide range of people about how they have lived well for Jesus over a long period of time. How have they lived the long obedience in the same direction? We will hear what the moment was like when they surrendered their lives to Jesus and how they have kept going throughout the trials of life. How have they navigated pain, disappointment and loss? What scriptures have sustained them? Who has supported them in their journey and what has kept them strong?
These are real life stories that are encouraging to everyone. So far, I've interviewed Nicky Gumbel, Kate Coleman, Phil Knox, Sarah Yardley, James Aladiran, Lucy Peppiatt, Ben Doolan, Ness Wilson, John McGinley, Chloe Swart and Christa Lyth.
We are called to be disciples who make disciples. If we keep ourselves rooted in the good soil of the word of God, our lives will bear 40, 60, 100 times more fruit.
This is the big picture story of a life well-lived. It's the life story that follows the life-changing moment of salvation.
