As a new academic year begins, students are returning and starting University. As Fusion, over the last few years, we have noticed that the spiritual openness among the student generation seems to be increasing. From the incredible statistic that 74% of non-Christian students would be open to trying church if a friend invited them, to even hearing stories of students reading the Bible and feeling led to visit a church. We are expectant and excited about all the good news stories that will come from the year ahead.
On Friday 13th September, myself and a group of student workers hosted a stand at the Uni of Bristol freshers fair, inviting students to Try Church. We were amazed as non-christians would come up to us explaining that they felt a particular interest this year to explore Christianity and to begin engaging with church.
We also used the Fusion Worldview Survey and this year we’ve added in a question: ‘Would you be interested in reading the Bible?’. As students kept saying yes, we were able to sign-post them to a project we’re launching this year where we aim to hand out 1,000 Bibles for free to students exploring faith. Our faith kept rising throughout the day; we are convinced that God is moving among this generation of students.
There is power in the word of God. Students are reading the Bible and are being convicted that what they are reading is true. In order to deliver this project and hand out 1,000 Bibles this year we need financial support. Can you help sow the word of God among the students in this nation? For just £10 you can get a Bible into the hands of a spiritually hungry student; why not give the gift of a Bible today?
