One of the things we have loved doing in recent years is to host worship nights across the country in partnership with local churches. We know that we are called to train, equip and resource students and student workers for mission but we also know that we need the Spirit of God to move us towards mission as well. This comes through seeking God’s presence, sharing testimonies and praying for a move of God in this nation.
A few weeks ago, we gathered in Newcastle alongside students from churches across the city to pray and worship. We shared stories of how God is calling this generation of students to wake up to him. In particular, we talked about how students are feeling pulled towards scripture through invitation, dreams or just deciding that they want to read the Bible. This student generation is hungry to engage with the Word of God.
As we led into ministry time we invited the group of students to pray for a name to come to mind of someone they could invite to begin reading the Bible with. We then invited them to take out their phones and message that friend. I was amazed as over half of the students in the room took out their phones and started writing messages. We then worshiped and prayed. We prayed specifically for boldness and courage to share the gospel with those around us. There was so much hunger and excitement in the room.
We don’t know what has happened with those messages that were sent, only time will tell. But we do know students are stepping out of their comfort zones. They are inviting their friends to know about Jesus. God is moving in this generation and there is more to come.
We’d love you to come and be a part of our Fusion Days in March! We’ll be coming to a city near you - if you’re free, book your ticket today and come and join us.
