End Of An Era... sort of

Next week, after four fantastic years, I’ll be leaving Fusion to start a new job.

Consequently, this will be my last post on the Fusion blog! A lot has changed since me springing into the role of Student Mission Developer, in 2006, shortly after I finished my degree in Sports Science at Loughborough. The Fusion Blog itself was just a twinkling in my eye - an idea which I suggested during my interview - a way to share stories, thoughts and opportunities from churches, organisations and students around the country.

The Fusion team and numerous other contributors took it to the next level and we now have an archive of encouragements, ideas and reflections ranging from the sublime to the ridiculous.

When I started out with Fusion, alongside Luke Smith and Hannah Bowring, the charity had already been around for 9 years. We entered a team that fostered a spirit of passion, creativity and commitment, which was always looking ahead to ‘what could be’. I’ve been privileged to be part of that team and see our connections and opportunities grow exponentially, despite set backs and stretched funds. Together, we’ve drunk a lot of coffee, produced many new resources, made hundreds of new church connections, seen thousands of school leavers connected to churches through Student Linkup, driven tens of thousands of miles, spoken and written literally millions of words to inspire and equip students to love their unis.

Best of all, as I move on to pastures new, I can be confident that I’m leaving Fusion in good hands. With new team members coming on board who can take what’s already here and make it even better, with new relationships being built every day to help many more local churches become and grow as launchpads for mission and in seeing God continuing to bless the work of this charity, I look forward to checking out the Fuse blog, now-and-again, to read about the exciting world of student mission in years to come.

Thanks for reading my Fusion Blog thoughts and musings for the last four years. If you’re wondering what’s next - I’m moving to North London to open a bike store in a BMW dealership. You can follow the progress on twitter @jamesphewitt and on my blog http://jamesphewitt.blogspot.com If you need a new bike, now you know where to come!

God bless,

James
