Last month we chatted about an ancient practice of rhythms that would revolutionise our world, deepen the way we understand mission, and change the way we go about our every day lives.
What if we took this call to transform the rhythms of our lives seriously both as individuals and also as communities of like-minded followers of Christ?
We often get together with the same group of mates each Friday after lectures and grab a pint before the weekend. We have our regular coffee and catch up with folks in a break between seminars, and we have our weekly evening with our small group.
What if our desire to intentionally develop rhythms that re-imagine the world were to infiltrate our communities and impact communities elsewhere?
God is calling radical disciples to live differently in order to bring about restoration. You are part of this. Are you ready?
What if your Friday night pint with mates could open up conversations about God’s character? What if your coffee and catch up became a rhythm where a group of activists dream and scheme? What if your small group developed rhythms of mission that encompass the whole world?
This is your opportunity to get practical and get intentional about rhythms of mission, generosity, prayer, hope and transformation. Your group could commit to a rhythm of generosity together. You could club together and commit £20 a month to follow a community.
In your small group community, seven people could give the equivalent of a coffee a month, to a community elsewhere in the world. Your £20 would be used to empower local churches to transform their communities in countries where poverty bites hard. You would receive a pack to introduce you to the people who live there, regular emails and prayer updates, and a film about that community. The community that you choose to follow will be an example of the type of community where your money is making a direct, vital and sustainable impact.
Jesus gives a very clear call for people to live out a missional lifestyle and develop rhythms that display the character of God. Let’s broaden our horizons as we journey with people in our universities, cities and world.
