This summer we have an opportunity to set everything alight, to start a fire that will burn beyond human control. Let’s torch the place!
On the first of December 2011, I joined with thousands of people across 55 cities to pray and worship God in public. This happened under the banner of 7:14 Prayer.
It was fascinating to see such a grassroots prayer movement catch student’s imagination. With the radical tagline of “no stage, no mics, no brands, no speaker, just the people of God in one place” it bucked the trend of front led, conference-style prayer and put the initiative back in the hands of the people. And the student generation loved it! I believe it was only the start of a prayer movement that will spread like wild fire.
This year, on 19th May, the Olympic Torch begins its journey from Lands End to London, 70 days of pilgrimage across the whole UK. 7:14 want to use the torch relay as a catalyst for a wave of consecutive 7:14 events in towns and cities nationwide, preparing the ground and praying for Heaven's 'flame' this Olympic year.
A wave of public prayer and worship, sweeping the nation and gathering momentum, until we come together in London, to seek the Lord together. International cities will join us on that day.
What if 2012 saw the United Kingdom, OUR United Kingdom, United For The King? I believe it can happen.
But what it really needs is YOU... every single one of us.
