There I was, signing on at my local job centre, promising to apply for at least 2 jobs a week. I’d finished uni, worked as a student worker and research assistant for a year and was now trying to work out the rest of my life. They asked me to tick boxes to show which areas of work I was going to apply for jobs in – the only problem was I had no idea! What followed was weeks of randomly applying for jobs that I didn’t really want to fulfill my quota. Thankfully for me, this stage of my life was only about 6 weeks long before I realised that church and students was a longer term thing for me and I found a job in a London church.
The transition from university into the world of work can be complicated and a rollercoaster of emotions. What can we do as churches to help prepare students for this transition? What can we do to help them get to know themselves, to make good decisions and to be good workers when they get there?
On 6th March we are focusing our Resonate day on just this topic. Partnering with the London Institute of Contemporary Christianity, we will be looking at how we can guide students through their 3 years at uni so that they are ready for their 20’s and working life. The day is for student workers, student leaders and any final year students. Have a look at the programme here.
The day will also be the launch of the Graduate A-Z, our new resource with LICC, preparing students for the workplace.
Resonate days are free to ANYONE from a Fusion Connection Church so fill your car or buy some train tickets! To book your tickets for the day, click here.
See you there!
