Sharpening student work in 2013

There's a real buzz amongst the Fusion team this week.

This weekend is the long-awaited first gathering for the Fusion Student Learning Community. 32 churches and 150 people representing nearly 3000 students will be gathering at Trent Vineyard, Nottingham for just over 24 hours to sharpen their student work. We will ask the questions 'what is?', 'what could be?' and 'what will be?' to look in depth at our student work, dream with God and produce a 6 month plan to implement.

We are really excited to up the level of resourcing for churches. We have seen the face of church-based student work change completely in the last 15 years. It is now fairly standard for a church in a university town to have a student group and someone overseeing student work. When Fusion started in 1997 this was very rare. Church-based student work has become the norm and there are some brilliant models producing excellent fruit. But there is more to be done. The Student Learning Community is about honing and sharpening these models to see the quality of student work increase across the country.

As part of our resourcing we are also going to be releasing White Papers on different areas of student work over the next year. These free resources will be available to download from our website. The first two we have written to go alongside the first Learning Community gathering (Building a Discipleship Culture) and are available here:

Discipleship in a Digital Age - Rich Wilson

Mission is Discipleship, Discipleship is Mission - Miriam Swaffield

They aren't long so make yourself a cup of tea, have a read and get the cogs whirring!

We want to continue to improve what we do so that we can resource you better. If there are any topics you would like us to focus on, either in a White Paper on in our training, please do get in touch.
