Of course you can

A few weeks ago I visited New Community Church in Southampton.

It's a great church in the centre of town with a vibrant student work. Year on year student numbers fluctuate. Adam Clewer, one of the church leaders said, "sometimes we are the popular church, sometimes it's another church."

But recently, things have begun to change. They have been thinking about the students who aren't in their church and who aren't Christians.

On a recent prayer walk around Solent University campus, the student team wondered into the Students' Union and found the door to the office of the President wide open. They said hi, introduced themselves and asked if there was anything the local church could do to support the SU. To their amazement the offer was really well received. He said there was lots they could help with and offered a chance to do loads more besides. A relationship was formed between church and university.

"We always assumed that we weren't allowed onto the campus. It's not true. This has dramatically changed things!" said Rachel Heslop, Student Worker at New Community
