Skipping Meals
Skipping meals is bad for you. This is some advice for any students reading this. Yet at university it can be hard to keep meals regular. You sleep in after a late night out and have to make it to class, so you skip breakfast. Often you fill yourself up on that much coffee you think you don’t need lunch. Money is low at times so you cannot afford to get something substantial for dinner. Trust me though, from experience- skipping meals will leave you run down, deflated and tired.
There is a verse in Jeremiah 15:16 that says ‘Your words were found, and I ate them, and your words became to me a joy and the delight of my heart, for I am called by your name, O Lord, God of hosts.’
The Bible describes God’s words as meals. Something to be ate, chewed on and digested.
When we don’t spend time chewing on God’s word, we will be left feeling run down, deflated and tired.
Just as you may struggle to engage with life physically while running on an empty stomach, you will find you struggle to engage with the world spiritually while running on empty. We need a generation of students engaging with Gods word, hearing fresh from God and navigating their lives around what they read and what they hear.
So make sure this year at uni that you don’t miss meals- honestly you will thank yourself for it in the long run. But more importantly- don’t neglect time reading, hearing and obeying God’s words.
