I Guess I Could Start Now?

Back in September I wrote an article about how we don’t have to wait until January to make changes in our life. I said we can make changes to our life whenever we want, and more importantly whenever God tells us to. If you missed it, feel free to click here.

“What’s your New Year’s Resolution?” I’ve been asked this question so many times already this year. A group of friends even wrote them all down to have a look at them in a years’ time and see how we did. What did I write? “I’m going to do a bible in a year”. This was the same thing I was attempting to do in September, but the excuses always got in the way.

What were the things that you attempted to start in September, October that you didn’t quite manage, or an excuse came up? Maybe it was to do more exercise, or to start serving a team at church, or even to start taking notes in university lectures.

Whilst I firmly believe that you can make changes in these things whenever during the year, in January we seem to reflect more, we seem to look ahead to the future more and therefore it’s a great opportunity to make those changes now, or start something now.

“Oh great, another new year’s resolution article”. I hear what you’re saying, and to be honest that’s what it is. But here is my challenge: What is God’s New Year’s Resolution for you? I challenge you to spend 10 minutes, half an hour or even an hour just in prayer listening to what God is saying. What change could you make right now? What change could help you, and/or others get closer to knowing Jesus?

Is it, like me, to commit to reading your bible every day? To start giving financially to church? To serve a local ministry? Or start that project which God birthed in your heart months ago but you were too anxious to start it?

Today is a good day to start now.
