Be like bill
This is probably my favourite 'Be like bill'.
We’ve all seen the Bill memes spread across facebook at the moment. You may love them and find them funny or hate them and find them judgmental.
Either way, I think they’re interesting. It’s a chance for people to share an opinion and evoke a response to whether we agree if we should be like Bill.
What opinion or way of life do you want to promote?
Who do you want to be like?
If people wrote a ‘be like bill’ for you, what would it say?
What do your opinions, actions and words reflect?
In the story of Jesus calming the wind and the waves (Mark 4:35-41), after the storm has been calmed the disciples turn to one another and say ‘who is this man? … Even the wind and waves obey him!’
Jesus’ power and all that he did caused people to question ‘who is this man?’ Who is Jesus that he performs miracles, teaches with such wisdom and cares for the outcast?
That same power lives in us. When we live a radical life for Jesus, living purely, biblically, healing the sick, loving one another, it causes people to say ‘who is this person that they….?’ Our actions cause people to pay attention, and question this different lifestyle.
Our lives become a ‘Be like Bill’ because of the kindness that is shown through our actions, the wisdom through our speech, the power in the miracles, the purity in our lives, all because the holy spirit is living and working inside of us.
Why not spend some time today to pray and ask God to reveal how your life can point towards Jesus. In what way can we encourage each other so our speech, actions and heart all reflect Jesus and who he is.
