A couple of weeks ago I attended a conference with the title “Dangerous Dreamers”.
It was the National Leaders Vineyard Conference with just under 2000 leaders from across the UK. I heard the stories of many normal people, like you and me, who have gone and done seriously dangerous things because God gave them a dream; a dangerous dream. Things like:
- Moving to the worst place in town to minister to those in addiction and those without a home.
- Going to China to help those who are being sex-trafficked, even though they didn’t know Chinese or even anything about sex trafficking.
- Heading back to prison (this time not as an inmate) to teach people the Bible and run Alpha courses.
These are just 3 people’s dreams that God gave them, and they then went and carried them out. Extraordinary. Amazing. DANGEROUS.
When was the last time you dreamt of doing something?
Sometimes it’s very easy to just go about our daily life. To go to that lecture, get those assignments done, and fill all your free time playing FIFA or out at the clubs. But when was the last time that you dreamt of what God has for your life?
What’s the dangerous dream that God is putting on your heart?
Could it be that you want the whole of your course to know who Jesus is? Or that your Football Team prayed before going out onto the pitch against your university rivals?
Fancy going bigger?
What about getting all the local churches to come together and put on a student lunch for EVERY student in your university? Is the dream to feed 100% of people in your town/city? Or perhaps the dangerous dream is that the statistics would reverse: that 99% of students would be in church rather that out of it.
Can I encourage you to dream big? Spend some time with God. Above are just some examples, but go bigger!
John 14:12- “Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.”
Jesus foretold that we will do greater things than he did- it all starts with that dream!
