Have you ever been part of a team? It may have been the football team, the swimming team; for me it’s always been the basketball team. I love looking at societies and teams at universities these days. Perhaps the football team isn’t for you, but it’s the Quidditch team at Nottingham University (I wish my uni had one!). Or the Assassins team (learning to be an assassin anyone?) at Durham University. Finally, the Mario Kart Team at the University of Essex. Sounds great right? Are you tempted to change which university your attending now?
I’ve recently read a quote in a book called The Volunteer Revolution by Bill Hybels that said “What would it feel like to lay your head on your pillow at night, and say: “You know what I did today? I teamed up with God to change the world.”?”
Since reading it, I’ve written it on an A3 whiteboard in my room which I read every morning and I sincerely pray “Today, I want to team up with you God. What have you got today which I can team up with you with and make a difference in this world?”
When I was in a basketball team, or I was doing a group project at university, it was always great to know that I had that guy that played for England on my team, or that person who always got a 1st on every assignment they did. It gave me more faith that we could achieve something big. It gave me confidence in my ability.
Joshua 1:9 (Emphasis added) “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the lord your god will be WITH YOU wherever you go”.
God’s your partner. God’s on your team! I don’t know about you but I think that’s awesome!! “I have God on my side”. And because God is on my team: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” Philippians 4:13.
My message to you today is simple: God’s right with you. He’s cheering you on, he’s the best team mate you could ever have! Be encouraged to be bolder, take more risks, have more faith in the things that you can do with God.
