November Stories

"One of our students is a born evangelist. Last year she saw all her housemates start to follow Jesus! Over the summer she'd started feeling called to invest in some new non Christian friendship. During freshers' week her and I were in a club together helping to steward an SU event. A first year girl caught her eye and she joked with me 'She looks fun! I want her to be my friend!' A couple of weeks ago quite unexpectedly l, the first year approached her in the library and quite matter-of-factly said 'I keep seeing you and feel like I should talk to you. I'm struggling to make friends.' They've since gone for coffee and she's come to some group stuff wit us too. As a church we've received a lot of prophetic words recently about God saying 'it's time to go fishing.' But I hadn't quite expected the fish to start jumping into the boat for us!" Michael, Derby.

'There's a lot of good news that's been happening in Lincoln and with Alive students. But one out of the great headlines would have to be freshers fair! We hit the ground running and for the first time ever we were able to be a presence at freshers fair with the help of our great friends at Fusion and some other local churches. We met some great freshers, some Christian some not, and we had some good conversations as well as just invite them to a church. Most of the freshers we met are now a familiar face with us and we love that they're eager to get stuck in and we get to do this whole Christian journey with them, equip them to worship (because we all know that worship is our lifestyle) and encourage students into relationship with Jesus!' Andrew, Lincoln.

"The Student Team at Kings Church Manchester underwent a transformation this year: our leaders stepped down so student work could be run by students. As a new team, we had responsibilities and challenges that we had to face for the first time. Yet, through it all, the church’s support was overwhelming! Pastors made time to meet with us, church leaders gave sermons on student nights and church members were hosting students for lunch on Sundays. As the church encouraged us with their support, we began to encourage the church through our outreach events like giving bottled water to people on a night out and increasing the student involvement in different church ministries. This is only the beginning, and we believe that our students will bring a freshening to the ministry and a lasting impact to Manchester. Great things are ahead!" Sabrina, Manchester
