Over the last few years, as a Fusion team, we have become increasingly struck by the openness of the student generation to the story of Jesus and the church.

We have seen this in our experience inviting students to try church at freshers fairs and through Student Linkup, as well as in undertaking worldview surveys on campuses across the nation. Whilst 76% of non-Christian students would go to church if a friend invited them*, we know the reality of inviting friends to church for Christian students can often be quite daunting!

Therefore, we commissioned some in-depth research in early 2024 in order to better understand the attitudes and experiences of Christian students regarding invitation, being known as a Christian and living missionally.

This research was carried out on behalf of Fusion by Joe Warton, who has researched and written for organisations including The Church of England, Premier Christianity, The Gregory Centre for Church Multiplication, Evangelical Alliance, and The London Institute for Contemporary Christianity.

We have also drawn out some of the key findings from the research in a six-part blog series to dig a bit deeper into this topic and help equip your church and students for invitation.
