Your dream was drama school, and you got in. Next... who knows?
The industry I guess... somehow. But you have to get through this training first, well not just get through, you want to thrive and shine. You've almost finished your first term and the hours are longer than you'd expected, the pain from those movement classes is bittersweet and lecturers have taken a stab at breaking you down. You don't quite feel like you're sprinting towards the finish line of this term, to be honest you'd be happy to lie down on the race track and have a nap. I remember feeling like this at the end of my first term and thinking
"If I fell now I don't think anyone would pick me up because no one really knows me"
I guarantee everyone in your ensemble is feeling like this. Everyone is longing to be heard, seen and known.
This feeling only shifted when I took a step out of the drama school bubble and got perspective from an outside community. How can you get to know people in your local community outside of your drama school? Where can you find a community that will be there to pick you up?
