Postcards from my dad: Steve C

In a time when families are broken down, blended up and statistically you are more likely to be missing a solid father figure in your life, we decided to ask some of our friends who we think make great dads, spiritually, biologically, to the church, and to the student generation, to write to you. So just in case your dad never got to speak into your life in the way you'd hoped, here's a postcard from dad to you.

It is not what you do, but how you do it.  Your worth is not rooted in your academic or career success. Your worth is grounded in Jesus. True success is when we serve God and others in whatever place God has put us.

Each morning, as you prepare to face another day, invite the Holy Spirit into your life, into your daily schedule. Set aside time to ask God to help and guide you through your day. Pray the Holy Spirit gives you the power to reflect his love even when every ounce of your being screams, ‘No, I don’t feel like it’. Don’t let the momentary circumstances that may surround you take away the joy of the Lord that is rooted in our spiritual, eternal circumstances.

Even when some may implore you to do things that you know are not right, when temptation comes knocking on your door, stand firm in your faith: a faith that’s part of a deep and profound intellectual belief that draws all the disciplines you study into a coherent meaningful whole. When life might become too much, know that you are loved for who you are: loved by a Heavenly Father who is with you at all times: who will never abandon you.
