Welcome to Third Term!

After a rather strange and very unexpected Easter break, term 3 of your final year at university is finally here….

And am I right in saying it is not at all how you imagined?

So many things look different. Instead of a few layed back weeks of strolling on and off campus to work and then an intense month of cramming in the library, you’re probably trying to figure out how to build a new rhythm in a makeshift workspace that is less than ideal. If you’ve gone back to your hometown you can no longer blame your housemates for your lack of focus during study sessions (although your family might replace that quite quickly)! The people who you expected to be alongside in this time might be on the other side of the country and you can no longer look forward to last-minute socials, weekend picnics in the park and catching up with church mates to get you through the deadlines.

It might feel like the carpet has been ripped from under your feet and that the things that have been promised have been robbed from your grasp.

Our God is unshakeable

Although this term looks nothing like the one you’ve had planned out, God’s plan for you has not changed and there are still so many opportunities to live it out and finish well over these next few months.

The Holy Spirit has not been quarantined and the way that He listens to, cares for and works through us hasn’t been put on lockdown either. Our God is unshakeable. His will for your life is exactly the same today as it was 6 months ago and the life that He continually invites you into every morning with Him is just as accessible. We’ve got to keep our eyes fixated on Him in this season and continue to live in a way that brings Him glory.

Be faithful to what’s in front of you. Work hard, get your head down and don’t take your foot off the pedal just yet!

Be missional - People’s curiosity is through the roof right now! Use this opportunity to invite people into your small groups and communities to learn more about Jesus.

Be hopeful - Proverbs 3:5-6 says “trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

Trust in God and the promises he has declared over you every day since you were created. He leads us into the life He’s created if we let Him!

The way you choose to live these next few months will not just affect the job you want to get in September but the person you will become if you press into Jesus.

Let’s choose to look up and charge on with joy into the future He holds…
