First things first, PRAY!

PRAYER IS POWERFUL!

Prayer has the power to change minds, heart, cities, nations and lives. Prayer calls our amazing God into action, it makes room for miracles and it changes the very world we live in. Yet this incredibly powerful weapon of prayer is often left collecting dust on the shelf.

Prayer is so easily our last resort. We will do all that we can in our power, in our strength and in our ways, and if all else fails? Then we pray. Yet when I look at Jesus, I see the opposite. He prays first. He doesn’t feed 50 people, run out of bread and fish, and then pray. He prays first, and feeds 5000. He got up early in the mornings, hiked mountains and prayed before the day begun. Before all else, He prayed. Jesus calls us to do the same.

Prayer can be a beautiful and intimate conversation with our Heavenly Father, where we feel safe, known and loved. But prayer is also conversation with the Creator of the universe, the one that ‘even the wind and the waves obey’; He is all-knowing, all-loving and ALL-POWERFUL. When we pray we invite the power of God onto Earth and He moves in ways we can’t comprehend and does incredible things we can’t understand. In the battle for our cities, for our campuses and for our students, our posture needs to be prayer.

Our students need us, our cities need us, our world needs us, and they need us to pray. Pray hard. Pray often. Pray boldly. Pray honestly. Pray like there is no tomorrow. Pray from the very core of who you are. Don't pray as a last resort, pray first. We need to be praying as we walk the streets, as we sit in coffee shops, as we do our food shopping, as we step onto campus. Wherever you are, whoever you’re with, remember God is there with you and He is calling you to pray.

We are called to be hope-bringers to a world that feels hopeless, to be light in a world of darkness. We have been placed perfectly in our cities, on our campuses, in our own unique spaces and situations. God is already in these places breaking ground and stirring hearts. He is on the move and best of all? He is asking us to join Him.

So will you join Him? Will you commit to prayer walk your city? Will you commit to prayer walk your campus? Will you join in with God’s big mission for students and pray? Now is the time to take that dusty weapon off the shelf and unleash its power. Now is the time to get fired up. Now is the time to pray first!
