Watering Cambridge

One of the aims of loveyouruni was that we’d catalyse an ‘ideas explosion’: sharing stories and seeing them filter around the country to inspire and equip students in new locations.

As part of the loveyouruni project, I visited a group of students from some churches in Cambridge. They already had some ideas, but were interested in learning more about club outreach type projects that had taken place in various locations around the country. The group had already begun planning and, soon after, took part in their first outreach evening. Following my visit, I received an e-mail from a member of the team behind the initiative. He shared a few responses from both the volunteers and the clubbers. I thought you might like to read a selection of them:

“God did Great things tonight ... What joy there was, and I heard people saying "I feel the love!!" ;) I'm glad God had me do this (probably because I said I wouldn't, haha, he's hilarious), it was a really uplifting experience ... This was PURE joy. Thanks for letting us be a part of it!"

And some comments from the people who encountered the students from the churches:

“What have I done to deserve this?”; “Why are you doing this?”; “This is such a good service”; "I told you they were Christians"; "I'm Jewish and I think it's great that you're displaying your faith in an active, non-confrontational and loving way"

Christian student: "We're handing out water because we're a group of Christians who believe that God loves you and we want to show that love", Clubber:"Well that's a pretty good reason.  God's pretty good, then, right?"

Clubber: "Thanks for the water Christians, have fun in Heaven!", Christian student:  "Hope to see you there!", Clubber  "Don't think so."

Classic. Keep sharing the love!
