Week 43 - Healing at the Fusion Gathering

Last month, over 200 students and student workers came together for our annual Fusion Gathering! In the evening on the first day, we spent time in worship, leaving space for what the Holy Spirit wanted to do in the room. As time went on, students felt led to pray for healing.

One student said this:

"As I was praying and worshipping, I looked over to the corner of the room where two people were being prayed for. In that moment, I was reminded of ‘Do It Again’ in January, where I had seen people ask for prayer and experience healing. I felt in that moment that this was going to happen again.

I walked over and joined in with others who were praying for a man called Rich. I just felt like we needed to keep praying until he was 100% healed - I believed that God was going to heal him."

2 years ago, Rich gave his life to Jesus whilst at University - he now works for Fusion. This is his story of experiencing healing at the Fusion Gathering.

Rich’s Story

"A week before the Fusion Gathering, I rolled my ankle. I was put in a protective boot and told by the doctor that it was likely fractured.

At the Fusion Gathering, the pain was excruciating as I limped around trying to help. The boot was a huge inconvenience, but through a mix of adrenaline and painkillers, I just about managed to get through the first day.

That evening, we had a worship night. As I stood near the front, I turned to the person next to me and said, ‘I want to be able to jump around and worship like other people are doing.’ He wandered off and came back a few minutes later with five or six students who all wanted to pray for me.

I took the boot off and they laid their hands on my ankle. The students began to pray for healing and for me to be able to worship God freely. The first time, I felt no difference, so they prayed again, and this time, the pain started to get a little better. They prayed again a third time, and this time I didn't have pain when putting weight onto it, but it still didn't feel quite right.

After a few more times of praying, the feeling went away, and my ankle felt completely healed!

I went the rest of the conference without the boot on and without feeling any pain! Last week I went back to the doctors for a check-up - the doctor there couldn’t get their head around why my ankle hadn't been hurting!

I am back to normal and pain-free which is so amazing! From a joke about wanting to dance at the front to confusing the NHS, God really does amazing things."

We are increasingly hearing amazing stories of students praying for healing and seeing God move!

Who could you pray for this week? As freshers rock up to our cities in a few months, how could you be equipped and ready to pray for healing on campus?

Every week of the academic year, we are sharing a story of student mission. If you have a story to share, let us know.
