From Guernsey to Elgin

It seems like everywhere you look on social media at the moment, there is a story of a young person, an influencer, or a celebrity who has decided to explore what it means to have faith in Jesus. Whether it’s trying out church, praying or reading the Bible, people are spiritually open in a way that feels different to previous years. The pace has increased. The momentum is changing. We’ve heard the statistics (Savanta research paper) and rumours of awakening, and we really are seeing the tide shift.

This is not to say we want to hype up the narrative. We’re not seeing a national revival yet, but we are noticing more interest in faith than we’ve seen in a long time.

Last year we had 500 Bibles to give away. The vision was clear. If we really thought that students were interested in exploring faith, then we should be able to gift them with a Bible. We had never done anything like this before but we set out on a mission.

Before the end of the academic year, we had sent out the last Bible. 500 copies of scripture given to students across the UK who said they weren’t Christians but wanted to engage with the Bible.

But it didn’t stop there.

This year, we received 1,000 Bibles. Convinced the tide is continuing to shift, we believed God could do something incredible.

Each year we begin the freshers' season by attending as many freshers fairs as possible (we had 21 stands at freshers fairs, and 7 events where we took local students and student workers onto campus to do mission).

300 Bibles were gifted to students.

For context, last year we gave out 88 Bibles at freshers fairs. The hunger is increasing. We tracked all the places they’ve been distributed, over 850 in total, and put them on the map below.

From Guernsey to Elgin, young people are wanting to read the Bible and we know there are so many more young people to reach.

Would you consider giving to Fusion to help us continue to get Bibles in the hands of students this year?
