I was chatting to a student last week who had 5 essays, a presentation, a research trip and her dissertation all due in at the end of Jan.
It may feel Christmassy and exciting all around us, but some are just feeling overwhelmed and anxious by the amount of work piling up around us.
What does the bible say about this?
'Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, trust also in me' John 14:1
When uni starts to get hard it’s easy to start thinking we’re in the wrong place, we’ve chosen the wrong subject, we’re not bright enough after all.
Don’t be troubled. Sometimes God calls us to a particular place, or to a particular subject or to a particular group of people. This is because he has a plan for your future and will use your uni years for something bigger in his kingdom. It’s easy to get stressed with the mountain of assignments right now, but sometimes we need to take a step back and see the bigger picture. Let’s trust God where we’re at. Trust God with your assignments, hand over your anxiety and stress to him.
The bible also tells us;
‘Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for people’ Colossians 3:23
Trust in God yes, but he also calls us to work hard! Let’s show those around us our faith through our dedication and commitment to our work. Be organised, get your essays in on time, go to your lectures. We’re writing these essays and doing these exams for God, not just for our lecturers.
Before every essay I would pray ‘God, help me with this essay, inspire my words and give me a greater understanding of this question’.
Give it a go! Allow God to be a part of every inch of your life. Let him fill you with peace during this stressful season and motivate you to work hard.
