Has the tide turned for youth and students in our nation?

Has the tide turned for youth and students in our nation?

For the last few decades the church has been haemorrhaging youth, students and young adults at an alarming rate and despite our best efforts it has been apparent that the tide has been going out. Proportionally youth, student and young adult Christian numbers have been a shrinking percentage.

This has certainly been true for the student population.  For every student we rejoice in seeing make a commitment to follow Christ - the faith of 4-5 others seems to go cold. Most of these Christian sons and daughters never connect with a local Church on starting uni.

I believe the tide has turned

This is something that I can’t prove but like Elijah I am looking for and anticipating the cloud. I am acting and planning for the tide to come in and building Fusion with that expectation. Whilst many may not use this language I believe the expectation across the church is growing. When Fusion started in the Autumn of 1997 I remember praying along the lines of Luke 10 - that God would raise up workers for this mission field. I remember struggling to count on one hand the number of church based student workers in the UK.

Today, we have over 300 church based student workers in full, part or spare time roles that we are connecting with. God is calling more and more people to serve, love and reach students. Momentum, conviction and passion for and among students is growing.  Over 2011 we can achieve a lot, I invite you to pray and work with us in seeing the tide come in over the nations students.

Do contact myself or the Fusion team if you have time or resources that can help us more forward.

For the Glory of God,
