MISSION STYLES: SHOW ME

My mission style is ‘Show me’.

I am Mrs Practical. And yes you can feel free to call me that. Anything that needs sorting or fixing or arranging - I’m your gal. I like knowing what needs to be done and seeing what I can do about it. In conversations, I often write or draw the outcome of what has just been discussed, and come up with a three point plan of how to make that happen – many ‘show me’ people will do the same!

During a church service or a party I am normally flitting around the back making sure everyone’s got a drink, we’ve got enough food out, the playlist is at the right volume, the dishwasher is ready to get going and it will all happen on time. This is how I see more of Jesus and outwork who God has made me to be; through serving.

I love seeing how practically Jesus can make a difference in our lives. Stories like feeding the 5000 show me how practical and everyday Jesus' power can be. Personally, I don’t need to know all the theology there is, or analyse every part of the Bible for me to do something. For me, seeing the difference Jesus has made in my life and the lives of people around me is what convinces me of the truth. So when I share my faith with others, I naturally tend to share transformation stories or show practically what a difference Jesus has made in my life and the lives of people I’ve met along the way.

Day to day I feel like I’m most active and alive in my faith when I’m practically doing something to show Jesus’ love. For example, helping people out, buying lunch for someone who’s in need or helping solve a problem. I’m not afraid to be hands-on and will rope people in to help me out in serving a cause. I see God’s love work and know its relevant today and everyday - and that makes a difference to me in whatever situation I am in, that I know His love makes a difference.

If you think you are a ‘Show me’ too, here are some top tips to help you make the most of your Mission Style:

  • Have a plan – other people need your strategy to make their ideas happen.
  • Don’t go it alone – rope other people in to serve alongside you so more people can discover Jesus through serving a cause.
  • Share - take note of the difference Jesus makes to your life every-day and the fruit that you see from that and share the stories!
