Postcards from my dad: Pete

In a time when families are broken down, blended up and statistically you are more likely to be missing a solid father figure in your life, we decided to ask some of our friends who we think make great dads, spiritually, biologically, to the church, and to the student generation, to write to you. So just in case your dad never got to speak into your life in the way you'd hoped, here's a postcard from dad to you.

We are so proud of you!

It took a lot of courage and bravery for you to take this step, there will be moments when you're not sure if you made the right decision but your future self would urge you on and encourage you to keep on going.

In the lonely times remember you are never alone, the God of the universe knows your name, He loves you and Has great things in store for you.

Also remember that everything and everyone can be your teacher. This is a season of accelerated learning for you but don't miss the lessons that might be right in front of you. Learning the lessons of the power of friendship, the importance of rest, the gift of budgeting and so many more!

Lastly I want to encourage you from the life of Jesus. We have the mystery in the gospels of the hidden years of Jesus. At the end of Luke 2 Jesus is 12 year old then at the beginning of Luke 3 he's an adult beginning his mission. So we could ask the question, what happened in those hidden years? The answer is in Luke 2 v 52; Jesus grew in 'wisdom, stature, favour with God and favour with people.' This can be your story too, in these years which might feel 'hidden' you too can grow in wisdom, physical health, relationally and in your relationship with God. Can I encourage you to think of one way you can grow in those four areas and let someone else know to help you grow in those areas?

We are praying for you and are confident that the One who started a good work in you will carry it on!

Bless you greatly.
