Postcards from my dad: Paul B

In a time when families are broken down, blended up and statistically you are more likely to be missing a solid father figure in your life, we decided to ask some of our friends who we think make great dads, spiritually, biologically, to the church, and to the student generation, to write to you. So just in case your dad never got to speak into your life in the way you'd hoped, here's a postcard from dad to you.

Hi,

I’m not your Dad but I know your Heavenly one.  And I know that he is with you – right now he’s with you, loving you, smiling at you and so proud of you - the child that he has made.  He loves the person you have become, he loves the spirit inside you and he loves to see you exploring the gifts you have.  He will always LOVE you and there is nothing you can do to turn off the tap of his love. It’s stuck on!  Because I have known this throughout my life and this Dad has no favourites, I know that this is true for you too. He loves being part of your life, so talk to him.

If you’re feeling lonely, remember you are certainly not the only one.  It’s probably good to be a little bit brave and say ‘hello’ to a couple of likely people today… offer them a coffee or whatever and see how it goes.  It’s not too late to join in one or two clubs/societies which you liked the look of in Freshers’ Week but didn’t do anything about.  Oh, and finding a friendly local church is one of the best things you can do.  Try something new, meet some people who are not on your course… years later, I still have a few great friends from my time at university.

God bless you today.
