Preparing for University in a time of Uncertainty: Part 5 – Church Community

For Christians starting university this year, finding a church to be part of will make a huge difference to the quality of their university experience, wellbeing and calling in God. There will also be lots of students open to trying church for the first time and exploring what faith in Jesus is all about. Now is the time to start building a connection with a church in your place of study.

Finding the church for you will also be different. It might be a while before you meet with the whole church in person and so joining a church small group will be the way forward. The good news is that small groups have been building community online and churches have been meeting online for most of 2020. You can ‘drop-in’ on many churches in your place of study and join their live streams and broadcasts. For a more personal connection, you can use the Student Linkup app to connect with student workers. The app also gives you profiles, links and directions to all the student churches.

Connect with other Christian students starting at your uni. Fusion will be hosting an ‘Online Student Reception’ for Freshers at the Fusion conference. It is FREE, you only need to register your interest and in one of the after-hours session you'll connect up with students who will be starting at your uni and some student workers from that city.

There are many other ways to prepare that are found in the training and resources that are available through Fusion. I guarantee that a little bit of preparation will reduce your anxiety, encourage you, and begin to stir excitement about the next steps.
