Isaiah 61: Day 35

"For he has clothed me with garments of salvation..." (Isaiah 61:10)

I recently changed the photo on my driving license. The original photo was from 9 years ago, before I could drive, before I knew Jesus, and before I knew that I did not suit brunette hair.

The photo on the license doesn’t look like me anymore. The 9 years of aging and the change in hair colour contributes towards this, but as I look at the girl staring back at me on the pink card, I see someone who doesn’t yet know salvation.

It was a year after the photo was taken, that I tried church. Since that day, everything has changed. The garments of salvation given to me the day I accepted Jesus put sparks of hope in my eyes. I see the world and am seen by the world differently, and will forever be thankful for the invitation to try church.

Consider the moment you accepted Jesus. Who invited you to encounter Him? Was it a parent who introduced you to Jesus from a young age? A friend who invited you to try church?

As you reflect on your own story, consider what might have been your life’s narrative if you had not received the garments of salvation. How would you see the world? How would you be seen by the world?

Now, as you consider your own story, turn your attention to the people in your life who do not know the hope of Jesus. How might you introduce them to the salvation that is on offer? Who can you invite to try church?

The garments of salvation will change the way we see the world, and are seen by the world. We may be unrecognisable in 9 years, but will begin to look more like Jesus. My prayer is that our friends would also begin to look more like Him.

Who can you invite to try church today? Drop a friend a text to invite them to experience more of the salvation Jesus offers.
