We all learn in different ways, and this means we all learn about faith differently too. This ultimately shapes how we share Jesus with others. Mission Styles is a tool designed to help you recognise how you are naturally wired to share Jesus, but it also equips you to share your faith with your friends. It allows you to speak their “language” by deepening your understanding of how they respond to the Gospel.

- Read the Bible together. Leave space for discussion and use Bible commentaries or resources like The Bible Project to help support this.
- Recommend a book, podcast or video series that you can go through together which provokes conversation about what Christians believe and why, allowing your friend to examine the evidence and contemplate. I.e. Apologetics books such as ‘The Case for Christ’, ‘Mere Christianity’, or ‘If God Then What?’.
- Organise a Q and A panel, or debate, which allows your friend to ask whatever questions they want.
- Invite them out for a drink where you give them permission to ‘grill’ you or get into a philosophical conversation about a chosen topic.
- Invite a group of people over for dinner, both Christians and non-Christians, and get everyone to bring a controversial conversation starter or a big question about a potentially tricky topic that confuses them or they want to learn more about.
- In a Small Group setting, make sure there is time to properly dig into and explore specific questions. Provide a structure where they can think independently.
Top Tips
- Do more research yourself so you can answer your Convince Me friends as best you can.
- Don’t pretend to have all the answers. It’s okay to say “I don’t know!” sometimes, so ask to investigate the issue with them.
- Introduce your friend to a Christian friend of yours who has more knowledge on certain topics. Suggest you all hang out together sometime!
- Don’t ignore or downplay their questions or objections.
- Remember to still share who Jesus is and not just facts about Him; don’t shy away from sharing how he has changed your life.
