Let Me Experience - Mission Ideas & Top Tips

We all learn in different ways, and this means we all learn about faith differently too. This ultimately shapes how we share Jesus with others. Mission Styles is a tool designed to help you recognise how you are naturally wired to share Jesus, but it also equips you to share your faith with your friends. It allows you to speak their “language” by deepening your understanding of how they respond to the Gospel.

Let Me Experience

Mission Ideas

  • Challenge them to try church or give praying a go. Regularly ask them as well if they would like to receive prayer for anything.
  • Invite them to anything that might be happening at Church or CU, whether that’s a service, social, Bible study, Baptism, or event etc.
  • Ask them to join you on a social outreach project your Church is running; even if they aren’t as fussed about what its about they’ll likely enjoy the experience.
  • Share with them a prophetic word you may have had, or offer to pray for healing if you think that is needed. Invite them to have a go and do likewise.
  • Introduce them to your church or small group community so they can not only connect with new people but join in with what they are doing.
  • If you serve on a team or are helping to lead or organise event at church or small group, ask them to help you plan it and come up with ideas for what to do.
  • Bring them along with you if you are doing any first contact or on-campus evangelism. I.e. A giveaway, offering refreshments, or using a tool or activity like ‘Jesus At the Door’ or ‘Treasure Hunting.’
  • Challenge them to do Lent with you and give something up, or proactively do something, for 40 days.
  • Dare them to practise a spiritual discipline you are engaging in. For instance, could they join you whilst you fast, read scripture or prayer walk?
  • Share with them stories of Jesus performing miracles, or testimonies of miraculous and supernatural things happening today.
  • In a Small Group, ‘Let Me Experience’ people need to be a part of one that is active and dynamic. They’ll want to not only connect with people but get the opportunity to put into practice what is being spoken about. The more challenges, the better!

Top Tips

  • Try to avoid giving a Let Me Experience person an overly detailed explanation or too many instructions.
  • Give them the freedom to try stuff out even if they don’t fully understand it or make mistakes.
  • Invite them to be a part of a team and give them a role – they want to know that they can be involved in what is going on!
  • Go and find the people. Get out on campus, give things away, out water, chat to people and pray with them to see what happens and who responds! Ask God to lead you to the people he wants you to interact with.
  • Give space for Let Me Experience people to be creative and pioneer things. Encourage them to play a part in mobilising others.
  • Invite often – they are receptive to your invitation! Don’t be shy of challenging them to do different things.
  • Spend time coming up with ideas for outreach and discipleship, and simply go and make them happen.
  • When sharing faith with a Let Me Experience person, or welcoming them into a Church or Christian space, be mindful of what they may get to experience during that time. For instance, could it be prayer, worship, or experiencing God’s presence?
  • Don’t assume they will find your faith ‘weird’ and be put off; the stuff you think they may find crazy is actually what excites and intrigues them.
