We are humbled to have discovered that our Trainer Pack has been shortlisted for the Youth Work Resource of the Year by the Christian Youth Work Awards! (You can vote for it to win here - voting closes 20th Sept)
As well as being a great encouragement to the team it is also an exciting moment for us as it demonstrates a call from others for a shift that we’ve been working and praying to see.
The first UCAS deadlines are in October, a full year before university students begin their courses. Careers advice, interview prep and A level revision support are often available to varying degrees, but little time is spent by schools and churches when it comes to the social, emotional and spiritual preparation of young people for this massive life change. We want to see young people prepared for university life, not arriving bewildered and shocked but as confident men and women, ready to face both challenges and opportunities with integrity and faith.
73% of Christian young people don't join a church at university. Now over 80% of the young people using our Student Linkup service and prep for uni resources do.
It has been brilliant to spend time with youth workers up and down the country, picking up great ideas from those who are already preparing their young people, enthusing those who want to see that happen and encouraging those who feel they just don’t know how to do it. Thank you to all those youth workers who have been so enthusiastic about this resource and the vision behind it.
The Trainer Pack was designed so that any youth worker (or indeed school chaplain or parent) can run a short prep for uni course for their young people with very little preparation.
We hope that this nomination will encourage youth workers to finish well with their young people - not just getting them to 18 but preparing them well for their next life stage and sending them off into lives of courage, faith and hope.
Thank you CYWA for this encouragement. Please do vote, tweet out this blog and help spread the word about this resource to youth workers across the UK. Vote here! (When it says nominations close 20th Sept, it means voting).
